Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Jouvert Central ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our website and mobile apps.

Effective date: July 7, 2026

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to Jouvert Central on the web at jouvertcentral.com and in our iOS and Android mobile applications (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide, information generated through your use of the Service, and information from service providers that help us operate the Service.

Account and profile

  • Email address, name, and authentication details when you sign up or sign in (including through Google Sign-In).
  • Profile information you choose to provide, such as display name, carnival role, profile photo, and account preferences.

User-generated content

  • Posts, comments, photos, videos, and other content you upload or publish in the feed or on your profile.
  • Messages you send to friends through the Service.

Social and coordination features

  • Friend connections, friend requests, and group memberships.
  • Group details you create or join, including meetup locations and schedules you add.
  • Itinerary and saved carnival or event selections.

Location (optional)

If you grant permission, we collect your device's location while you are using the app to show distance to friends and support carnival map features. You can decline or revoke location access in your device settings at any time.

Contacts (optional)

If you choose to find friends from your address book, the app reads contact names, email addresses, and phone numbers on your device. We send only the identifiers needed for matching to our servers to see whether those contacts already use Jouvert Central. We do not store your full contact list as an address book on our servers.

If you invite someone who is not yet on the app, you may open the native Messages app with a pre-filled invitation. We do not send SMS messages on your behalf; you choose whether to send the message.

Camera, photo library, and QR scanning (optional)

  • Camera and photo-library access when you upload profile photos or post media.
  • Camera access when approved promoters scan ticket QR codes for check-in.

Payments

When you purchase tickets through supported flows, payment card and billing details are collected and processed by Stripe. We receive order and ticket status information from Stripe but do not store your full payment card number on our servers.

Merchant and promoter information

If you register a merchant business or apply to become a promoter, we collect the business and contact details you submit for review and display within the Service.

Feedback and support

If you submit feedback or contact us for support, we collect the information you provide (such as your message, optional rating, and account email when signed in).

Technical information

  • Basic device and app information needed to deliver the Service, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors.
  • Information our authentication and hosting providers process when you use the Service (see Section 4).

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Create and manage your account and profile.
  • Show carnival events, itineraries, merchants, feed content, and social features you request.
  • Enable friends, groups, messaging, contact matching, and optional location-based features.
  • Process ticket orders and support QR check-in where enabled.
  • Send in-app notifications about friend requests, group activity, and other account events. We do not use push notifications on mobile; notifications are fetched while you use the app.
  • Review merchant and promoter applications and enforce platform policies.
  • Respond to feedback and support requests.
  • Protect the security and integrity of the Service and comply with law.

4. Service providers

We use trusted third parties to operate the Service. They process information on our behalf under contractual obligations:

  • Clerk — account sign-in, identity verification, and session management.
  • Supabase — database, file storage, and application infrastructure.
  • Stripe — payment processing for ticket purchases.
  • Email providers — transactional messages such as feedback notifications, when configured.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. How we share information

We may share information in these situations:

  • With other users, according to your actions and privacy settings — for example, profile details visible to friends, posts you publish, group membership, and meetup details shared with group members.
  • With service providers listed in Section 4, solely to operate the Service.
  • For legal and safety reasons, if required by law, to protect users and the public, or to enforce our terms.
  • In a business transfer, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of your information.

6. Data retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You can delete your account in the app under Account settings or on the web at jouvertcentral.com/account.

7. Your choices

  • Account information: update your profile and account settings in the app or on the web.
  • Account deletion: delete your account from Account settings in the mobile app or at jouvertcentral.com/account.
  • Permissions: control location, contacts, camera, and photo access in your device settings.
  • Social features: manage friends, leave groups, and delete content you posted where the Service provides those controls.
  • Sign out: you may sign out of the Service at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information. Contact us using the details in Section 12 to make a request.

8. Children's privacy

Jouvert Central is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International users

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your home country.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
